Grafx was founded in 2011 from its parent company FX Motorsport, which was incorporated in 2010.
FX Motorsport
FX Motorsport initially concentrated on the running of rally cars within the British Rally Championship and clubman rally events.
We had some brilliant results with one of our drivers finishing 2nd in the British Rally Championship in 2010. After trying to keep up with the wear and tear on the vehicles it was suggested to purchase a Vinyl Plotter to sign write the rally cars in house. This instantly opened other avenues for FX Motorsport as a business. The start of Grafx
Following the successful start of the 2010 rally season, FX Motorsport and the newly founded Grafx division moved into larger premises based in Clitheroe.
From this moment the vehicle graphics aspect of the business grew stronger throughout the following years, proving that it was a better business model for father and son team of Andrew and Charlie than building and running the motorsport vehicles.Humble Beginnings
With the gradual growth of the graphics side of FX Motorsport, it was time for Grafx to hire its first employee.
We decided to employ an apprentice to aid the gradual growth of Grafx, and in May 2012 Tom Bradley became Grafx's first full time employee, and is still working within the company today as production manager.
With the team and local demand for sign manufacturing and vehicle lettering growing, we decided to re-invest all our earnings into a series of brand new state of the art equipment. Including a wide format eco friendly HP Latex Printer, a Summa Plotter, Bobis Flat Bed Applicator, Easymount Vinyl Laminator, CO2 Laser cutter and a sheet material guillotine. Our Growing Team
In April 2017, the Grafx team had become busier than its three strong team could cope with. At this point Jak Redfearn joined the team, following years working within the company Jak progressed to the role of Installation manager, following years of training and completing several installation qualifications.
New Home for Grafx
In 2019, Grafx had outgrown its premises once again and moved to a brand new, purpose built unit. The expansion doubled the unit space which included a dedicated print preparation room and plenty of capacity to install large vehicles inside.
Continued Growth
Following our move to larger premises, Grafx's four strong team became overwhelmed with it's growth and quickly expanded to a team of six.
Continued investment
Following the move, and continued establishment of the company, Grafx again invested in more of the latest production equipment, purchasing two more brand new, solvent free, eco friendly HP latex printers.
A Summa F Series Professional Flatbed Finishing System, and a large format Laser cutter. Allowing the company to expand its services, increase it's productivity and reduce it's negative impact on the environment.
Offering fully automated, large volume vinyl and banner printing and manufacturing of premium signage.
All produced in house, in the UK.The Creative Corner Started
With the growth of Grafx increasing dramatically and the demand for custom design becoming more apparent, we took the opportunity to employ our first in house Graphic Designer.
With over 16 years graphic design industry experience Jamie joined the Grafx team in 2020.Covid Shutdown
As the world was shook with Corona Virus, we at Grafx started to wonder how we could help.
Initially, Charlie worked independently to produce free stickers for our local hospitals and care centres, to give out to their members of staff. These were for on peoples vehicles showing that they were working within the NHS or Care sectors.
Following on, and with the slight easing of regulations with additional safety equipment and instruction available. Grafx started developing products to help with the pandemic.
Podscreen Manufacturing
After being approached by a customer with a problem, Grafx began working with Andy Mayo from The Foot Company to develop and manufacture a protection screen for use in a clinical environment.
The Podscreen was born, with other models being added to the range as development continued.
This era allowed Grafx to work with customers like MAD CNC Engineering to manufacture parts within the UK and within a timeframe that met the needs of the spreading virus.
The product proved popular opening wholesale opportunities and manufacture the unit into the several thousands.
Website revamp and creative corner expansion!
At the start of 2022, the Grafx team expanded once again. With Designer Cameron joining the creative corner.
Following our business development during Covid with our other products, it was back to business for Grafx. With the development of a full new website showcasing our full range of ever expanding products and services, and including a web shop for simple online ordering.
2023 Team Expansion
After our Christmas shut down of 2022, Grafx came back to work with a vision to grow it's team and expand it's services further.
Throughout the year we employed three new starters within our sign and graphic installation team. Growing our workforce enabling us to provide shorter lead times, to our usual high standards.
